About me

Warning: This blog is mainly about my views on issues relating to liberty, disability rights, women's rights, the non-aggression principle, and the consistent life ethic. Alternative subculture problems

  1. People asking if you're hot when you're wearing black clothing in the summer.
  2. Being interested in clothing styles with names that sound questionable (lolita, kinderwhore, etc)
  3. Liking aesthetics associated with burlesque, pin-up, and BDSM... but not being into the sexual stuff (for example, I think bondage pants are awesome, but I don't want to associate with BDSM).
  4. People preach to you because they think you worship Satan.
  5. People assume you're depressed and/or depressing.
  6. Other people of (insert alternative subculture here) say you can't be part of that subculture because you don't completely fit the stereotype.
  7. You can't rub your face without ruining your makeup.
  8. You worry about getting black lipstick on your food.
  9. People don't understand the differences between alternative subcultures.
  10. You like at least one music genre that nobody knows exists.
  11. Political correctness is killing your style. That awesome shirt with the sugar skull on it? Cultural appropriation. That Harajuku-inspired outfit? Cultural appropriation. Those dreadlocks? Cultural appropriation.
  12. People think you can't dress a certain way because of your race, gender, body type, or whatever (e.g. people tend to forget that not all goths are white, and that pale makeup doesn't work for all goths)
  13. Not all of your problems were listed here.
