Grey cemetery (Poem)

Here in the graveyard
lies a young woman.
You may know her,
or at least know of her.
In life she was naive,
innocent,
and insecure.
She wanted so desperately to be loved,
but she never knew true love.
She met a man,
he was a handsome man
with mysterious grey eyes.
He was strong,
authoritative,
powerful,
traumatized
He stared out the window,
watching the world burn
from the damage he caused.
She gave him her heart, but then he stole
her body, mind, and soul.
He wouldn't give it back.
She was intoxicated,
then he took her away.
And she was tortured
until the break of day.
He wore a pale grey mask.
"Will you sign the contract?"
he asked.
"I'll give you whatever you want
if you let me give you whatever I want," he said.
He watched her every move,
considered her inferior,
and bribed her with riches
to get what he wanted.
He locked her in a room,
the room was painted with blood.
Her eyelids and lips were sewn shut,
but her tears still escaped,
and her voice was not lost.
He tortured her,
and ignored her pleas
when she was on her hands and knees,
begging him to stop.
Her blood was on the contract he forced her to sign.
"Without me, you'd suffer eternal pain"
he said after he tortured her
and handed her the medicine.
He told her another woman had done the same to him.
"There are shades of grey," he said,
but the color of her blood was red.
When she tried to escape,
she was told
"the world is cold,"
but so was his heart.
He never respected her,
but at least he could protect her
and lavish her with riches.
Every night she cried herself to sleep.
With each attempt to save herself,
another bone was broken,
another limb was torn off.
She told herself
"he can change if I show him the right way,"
while taking the medicine he prescribed
to kill the pain.
He cut off her arms,
he cut off her legs,
but she still loved him,
despite his selfish, one-sided lust.
A tie was put around her neck;
the tie was a noose.
She thought he could change.
Now she lies in her grave.
You may have heard a story similar to this,
but they lived happily ever after,
(or so it was said)
and you may have wished
you were in her place.
But while you were wishing you were in her place,
millions of women are being abused in the exact same way,
millions of women are being led to their graves.
The gravestones are grey.
Her blood was red.
But the killer goes free,
and searches for another victim.

This poem obviously portrays an abusive relationship (inspired by the one portrayed in Fifty Shades of Grey), however, it is also meant to be a metaphor for government oppression.
